ArtFutura

Art Futura comes back to the city where it was born, matching up with a moment of great activity related to digital technology. An activity not only arising from the increasing number of local artists emerging constantly, but from the election of Barcelona as a residence by artists from different places of the world, the growing concern of cultural institutions with initiatives of young digital artists, and the emergence of small or big events such as OFFF, Sónar or the same Art Futura. The return of Art Futura has become an excellent excuse to depict great part of the activity in Barcelona's everyday life. Urano has commissioned for Art Futura a series of presentations under the title "Barcelona 2001". The impossibility of inviting all creators working in Barcelona has forced us to make a representative selection among the most advanced proposals of young artists in fields such as net.art or motion graphics, including also those of undisputed reference and which are essential to the present scene. There are also promising companies developing their commercial activity on the Net, publicity and design fields opening up new horizons and, of course, collectives who carry out all kind initiatives promoting digital creation.
